My Story
Childhood
I was born in a middle class Maharashrian family. I was good at studies and extra curricular activities. As long as I remember, I have always been in love with Novels & Literature. I would read a variety of subjects that came my way. The turning point was when I started reading biographies of Inspiring personalities from around the world. It changed my whole perspective to look at humanity & worldly things completely. It inspired me to think out of the box. Especially the books on Mahatma Gandhi, Swami Vivekanand, Marco Polo inspired me and created a strong urge to explore the world, to meet new people from all walks of life & to learn from my own experiences.
Teenage
This was the time when I actually started exploring new things through my eyes. I was fortunate to have good friends around who helped me grow a better person. Being an extrovert teenager it was always my basic need to interact with people. However my parents used to feel it is inappropriate for girls to talk to boys. Being from an orthodox family I always had some forced restrictions that stopped me from doing what I wanted. That conflict between our thought processes pushed me into a dilemma of what is right & what is wrong. I lacked having opinions in any family matter and frequently started lying to my parents of my whereabouts. I was living two different personalities. The most obedient at home and the most rebellious outside.
Post schooling I persued Physiotherapy Professional Course as my career path and with that I got into Pravara Medical College in Loni, a remote village in Maharashtra. My Mother was my inspiration in this medical journey. I have seen her working hard with dedication & love. In fact the helping trait in me has come directly from my mother. I have seen an attitude of abundance in her. She never pulled back her hands when it came to offering a help. I still remember the days my mother used to cook fresh food for whoever came to our house for whatever reasons. No one has ever left empty stomach in her presence. And that always stayed with me for life. These four and a half years of my Degree course shaped my personality. It made me an independent and a confident person.
These college days were kind of too adventurous. With an exception of a few friends, no one knew that I was in a long distance relationship with my school buddy Avinash. Our courtship days & undercover dates could make it into yet another interesting Novel. Dating or choosing my own life partner was a concept still new to my family. That resulted in a huge resistance in accepting our relationship. But Avinash & I never gave up. We consistently kept moving forward slowly & steadily in our respective profession. Luckily Avinash’s family had accepted our decision and was very supportive from day one. Finally it was Avinash’s Mother who initiated a dialogue with my parents and finally managed to convince them. Soon in time our families met, exchanged views and there we were smiling at each other waiting to tie a knot.
Our Marriage
This is a very special story. Avinash & I had a very unique idea for our marriage. We decided to get married in the lap of mother nature. Avinash’s uncle Ulhas Rane has his own land adjoining Karnala Forest Sanctuary. He suggested us to get married on that land and we readily agreed to it. We wanted to arrange things that fit in our budget, as we had strictly decided to spend the money that only we both have earned. And so we kept the guest list very short and invited only those who are really close to our families. My mother in law suggested us an apt date for our marriage. 5’th of June, which is a World Environment Day.
We did not want the traditional marriage rituals to which we do not associate us with. We wanted rituals that are based on equality, mutual respect & commitment. Mrs. Sneha Joshi, from a Pune based organization Jnana Prabodhini (meaning Awakening Through Knowledge) came to our rescue and agreed to perform rituals to which we associate ourselves with. The stage was set. We got ourselves committed to each other in the presence of a Banyan (Vad) sapling and took circles around it. Ulhas uncle then gifted all guests with unique beautiful variety of plant saplings. The guests were so delighted that the child within them was reflecting on their joyful faces while choosing a sapling. The Banyan sapling we prayed to was then planted at a secured place on that land and it still continues to grow. Slowly & steadily, just like our relationship.
Life After Marriage
After 10 long years of courtship, I must say getting married to Avinash is one of the best decisions of my life. More than a husband, he is a dearest friend. He has always supported me in achieving my dreams. The best part is I always get an unconditional acceptance from him which I think made a huge contribution in my personal growth. My in laws are very open minded and liberal in thinking. The free thinking vibe at my In Law’s helped me flourish as a person. I learned that families can have an open dialogue where every individual can have their own view which may differ from each other and yet it is acceptable. The important thing for a healthy relationship is to engage, express & have a dialogue.
* Then began another chapter of seeking in my life. I got myself trained into Meditative Lifestyle Techniques & Yogasanas from “The Yoga Institue – Mumbai”, an internationally acclaimed institute in Mumbai. This 3 months of Yoga Teacher’s Training program opened yet another vast universe of knowledge & wisdom upon me.
* My journey of seeking landed me at another beautiful institute “Heart To Heart Foundation – Mumbai”. An institute specializing in Counselling Services, Training Programs, Counselling Courses, Self-help Workshops, Awareness programs. I got myself certified in Personal Councelling & Sex Education from this lauded institute.
* I was greatly interested in Behavioral Science and it’s impacts on our day to day life. To understand it closely, one needs to participate and invest time in intense interactive workshops. I participated in two of such 5 days residential full time workshops or Labs as they call it at “ISABS – Indian Society for Applied Behavioural Science”. The workshops helped me to understand my inner self, my behaviour patterns and it’s impacts on others.
* I participated in an online workshop “Law Of Attraction” by Vrunda Acharya on a platform named Net-Bhet. This workshop made me aware about how a quality of thought impacts our life. It enlightened me on how a single thought has the power to change our life. I have got myself successfully trained to coach “Law Of Attraction” tool.
Avinash & I, we both love traveling and adventure. Our passion for exploring got us into Motorcycle Touring, Cycling Expeditions & Trekking to the remotest places in India. Though our every travel experience is special, the most we cherish as our life achievements are our Bicycle expeditions.
1200 Kms To Kanyakumari
In December 2016 we cycled from Sawantwadi, our native place near Goa to all the way till Kanyakumari, the southernmost tip of India. We had pushed ourselves to all possible extremes to reach Kanyakumari on our bicycles. We still cherish those 1200 Kms of sheer will power, endurance & pure cycling fun.
Bicycle Expedition in Europe
In 2018 we traveled through 5 European countries, starting from Austria, Germany, Switzerland, France & ending in Netherlands, pedaling 1400 Kms on our bicycles. This was an enchanting roller coaster ride of 37 days, through beautiful European countryside and through all the ups and downs such tough expeditions usually offer.
Our unique traveling experiences have made us welcoming and have enriched our lives. We love experimenting in our life and hence our love for experiential learning will continue to grow for the times to come.
If I Can, Then You Can Too!
I believe the core quality of every person is love and kindness. Its our perception of the past and our belief system that shifts us away from our original nature of purity. Being a Relationship coach I will help YOU to understand YOUR own nature by offering love and compassion.
“If your old way of thinking is not helping you change the quality of your life, then whats stopping you from experimenting & changing your own thinking?”
“I don’t want people to hear about my story & feel sad about my struggles. I want them to hear my story & get inspired!”
